Leaders are servants. With the responsibility of teaching, vision, and strategy, our leadership team serves the people of SouthLake Church and our community. Our pastors guide our faith family while understanding that Jesus is the true chief shepherd.


Dan King

Senior Pastor

Pastor Dan King came out of retirement to become Pastor of SouthLake Church in 2021. Previously, he served as Pastor of First Presbyterian Church (PCA), Stanley, North Carolina, for twenty-six years. His pastoral ministry follows a fifteen-year career in television news.  Dan is a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson, Mississippi, having also attended Florida State University. Dan and wife Carol have two daughters and four grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening at his rural home in Gaston County.


Jason Piteo

Assistant Pastor

Assistant Pastor Jason Piteo answered God’s call to be our Assistant Pastor in 2023. In addition to his duties at the church, he is also the Spiritual Life Director of SouthLake Christian Academy. Previously, Jason planted PCA churches in East Charlotte and most recently Strongsville, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. Before entering into ministry, Jason had a career in the Information Technology field, utilizing his degree from Purdue University, where he also met his wife. Jason and Jill have six children spread over 19 years. In his free time, he enjoys playing disc golf and watching Premier League football (soccer).

Elders are responsible for the government and spiritual oversight of the church, teaching and shepherding its people, and modeling for them the Christian life.
